Hyundai Creta- New vs old

The Creta has been the Hyundai cash cow and comfortably the best selling SUV above Rs 10 lakh in the above 4m space. Despite no changes it has maintained its lead and its appeal has not diminished one bit even years after launch. However Hyundai wants to maintain the lead and grow it further which explains the Creta facelift which is launching this month. This is a facelift with an extensive set of changes.

In comparison to the current Creta, in terms of dimensions it is the same and changes are cosmetic but substantial. The front bears the biggest of changes with a new and bigger Hexagonal grille. It is now nearly joining the headlamps which stay the same. The grille is black but the surrounds are layered with chrome for a more premium touch. The front bumper is also changed with more styling added in plus the fog lamp enclosures are changed. The front now wears a more edgy and more aggressive look. The side remains the same more or less but there are new alloys which are 17inch.

We expect new paint colours as well while the rear will have an updated bumper. Inside design wise we do not expect much changes but features will have a big upgrade with an all new touchscreen and features like a sunroof, cooled seats, powered drivers seat and even a smart key band. Dual airbags are standard while 6 are in the top-end. That will make the Creta the best equipped SUV out there in this price bracket with the XUV giving close competition. Engines will stay the same which means the 1.6 engines along with the manual and auto gearbox will be there which is no bad thing as there is nothing wrong with them on the first place. The range will start with a 1.4 diesel with a manual. Of course with all these new features, prices will rise but still we only expect sales to increase for the Creta in its facelifted avatar.
