Xiaomi India retains its smartphone market leadership in Q1: report

Xiaomi India continued to lead the Indian smartphone market as per IDC Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Q1 2018. Xiaomi retained its top smartphone brand position with a substantial 30.3% market share widening the gap between itself and the second smartphone brand. 
The Chinese smartphone maker also continued its dominance in the online smartphone market with 59.6% market share. 
Manu Jain, Vice President, Xiaomi and Managing Director, Xiaomi India said, “All the success which Xiaomi enjoys today is proof of the love we have received from millions of our Mi Fans. We are thankful to each and every one of them for putting their faith in us and we promise to work hard to retain it.  Xiaomi will strive to deliver on its philosophy towards providing high quality innovative technology at an honest price and bring the best of technology to everyone.”
Earlier, according to a report by Canalys, Xiaomi owned a market share of 27.4 per cent in the Indian smartphone market having sold 8.2 million smartphones in December quarter. 
Additionally, according to Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi is the market leader in India with a market share of 25 per cent in December quarter. 
Commenting on the report, Manu Jain ,Vice President, Xiaomi and Managing Director, Xiaomi India, said, “We are extremely pleased that we have been able to retain our position as the No 1 smartphone brand in the Indian market (including both online and offline markets) according to reports from Canalys and Counterpoint.. I believe our constant innovation across our products, operating model  and our commitment  to India has helped us win over our  Mi  fans. India is a key market for us and we will continue to launch new products and product categories for Indian Mi fans.”
